Since Dell sets an example in terms of communication and transparent CSR, it is no coincidence that the company regularly appears right at the top of the rankings on this subject (#1 in Newsweek's Greenranking US 2010 recently).

Dell's CSR report is self-assessed as a "B" (validated by the GRI) for the quality of information provided and the associated transparency. In fact, the above-mentioned report is an example of conciseness and relevant information. The commitments and the indicators are in particular among the most exhaustive. The method for calculating greenhouse gas emissions shown in this document has in addition been validated by an independent body, ICF International.

The assessment is just as full of praise when it comes to its environmental impact. As much as Dell publishes all the information about its products in a less standard format than its fellow manufacturers, Greenpeace supports the idea that we get of the company in its 2011 assessment. Dell has in fact moved up the "Guide To Greener Electronics" ranking, going from 10th to 2nd place (with a score of 5.1/10 as opposed to 4.9/10 in 2010). In addition, the NGO notes progress in keeping to undertakings made, particularly in the elimination of some substances, such as PVC and brominated flame retardants. An observation that we have been able to validate following the analysis of the manufacturer's latest equipment.

Finally, from a social viewpoint, Dell is often acclaimed as an ethical and committed company in terms of diversity and commitment to communities and stakeholders.
Dell has recently been named for the third year running as one of the 50 companies which women want to work in (study by The Times in Great Britain). And the company is behind the initiative for a global action in the information technology industry against conflicts generated by the extraction of minerals needed for the manufacture of electronic hardware. Finally, in its latest 2011 "Green Rankings" of the 500 most environmentally responsible companies, Newsweek puts Dell in 25th place, especially as a result of its management system.
