There was little reduction in CO2 emissions between 2007 and 2010, but sales increased, especially for so-called "green" products, which shows clear progress. In addition, Philips got an "A" from the Carbon Disclosure Project for 2010, which confirms the progress achieved.
Philips also launched numerous more sustainable products onto the market, especially in terms of the energy savings which they enable in comparison to the old products. However, we regret the fact that these products are not provided with the relevant environmental information, as is the case with numerous competitors of the company.
Greenpeace confirms that the company does in fact have a major commitment and ranks it 3rd place for 2010, welcoming its efforts with regard to toxic substances, especially arsenic for screens, and brominated flame retardants for electronic products in general. This "good performance" is also welcomed by the Global 100, which ranks Philips in 58th place among the world's companies, and likewise by the latest Newsweek 2011 "Green Rankings" of the 500 most environmentally responsible companies, which puts Philips in 9th place, especially thanks to its environmental management and its transparency.
